I found a baby bird, what now

When you come across a baby bird, it's essential to approach the situation with care and consideration for the bird's well-being. The first step is to assess the bird's condition and determine whether it truly needs assistance. Sometimes, baby birds found on the ground are not necessarily abandoned or in danger; they might be fledglings learning to fly, and their parents may be nearby, keeping a watchful eye on them.

If the baby bird appears injured, weak, or in distress, it may require intervention. The best course of action is to contact a local wildlife rehabilitator or a licensed animal rescue organization. These professionals have the expertise and resources to provide proper care and rehabilitation for the bird.

While waiting for assistance, it's crucial to keep the bird safe and comfortable. Place it in a quiet, warm, and dark environment, such as a small box lined with a soft cloth or paper towels. Avoid feeding the bird or giving it water, as improper feeding can harm it. It's best to leave feeding and medical care to the experts.

Remember, handling wild birds requires caution, as they can carry diseases and may become stressed by human contact. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling a baby bird, and avoid prolonged exposure to it unless necessary for its safety.
